If you are a woman, then you may not know just how important it is for you to take better care of your health. Exercise
Getting out and moving isn't just good for your physical health, but it's good for your mental health as well. Try to find an exercise plan or routine that you like to do a lot; that way it's not something that you get bored with. Remember that in order to get heart healthy benefits from exercise, you need to workout at least 3 times per week for 30 minutes each time. Set aside time in your weekly schedule so that you have enough time to do this.
Pap Smears
If you are sexually active and can't remember the last time that you had a pap smear (if ever) then you should make sure that you contact your women's health professional and schedule your appointment. Pap smears are a vaginal exam that are designed to check for abnormal cervical cells which may detect cervical cancer. The great thing about pap smears is that as long as they come back normal, you shouldn't have to have the test redone for about three years.
Mammograms
If you are a young woman, you won't necessarily have to get mammogram unless you detect a lump in your breast. If, however you are over the age of 50, then you will have to get regular mammograms. Make sure that no matter what age you are, you are doing monthly breast exams in the shower. To do one of these exams, simply take your index and middle finger, and rub them around your breast in a circular motion. Do you notice any hard spots? Do you notice any lumps? If so, make sure you are seen by your women's health provider right away.
As you can see, there are a variety of things that you should do as a woman for your health. If you want to learn more about your health as a woman, contact your women's health care provider today and ask them what they think you should do.
